trainings and events built for clinician sustainability
Continuing education shouldn't just check a box. It should give you something you can use, from someone who understands the realities of this work.
Everything below comes out of the same core value that drives the rest of my work: supporting clinicians, not just clients. We're expected to pour ourselves into the work, often without much thought to what it costs us. Many of us were taught, sometimes early in life, that the more we sacrifice the more we prove our care. The field has leaned into that, asking clinicians to give and give in the name of ethical practice, until setting a boundary starts to feel like a failure of compassion. I've watched skilled clinicians run themselves into the ground and leave a profession they loved.
I build these offerings differently. They're grounded in what two decades across a range of mental health settings has taught me, and designed to provide you with real tools, support, honest conversation, and skills to think through the tough stuff.
You'll find a mix here of trainings with and without CE, cohorts, paid and free events, info sessions, and ongoing groups. Whatever stage you're in, if you're tired of figuring it out alone, there's something for you.
Below you'll find current trainings, events, and offerings built with clinician sustainability in mind. To learn more about clinician support at Kestrel Psychotherapy, see my For Clinicians page.

"Oh, and They Have ADHD"
You've got a client on your caseload where ADHD is listed somewhere in the middle of a string of other diagnoses, and nobody in staffing is really talking about it.
Maybe the parents came in expecting you to fix their kid. Maybe it's an adult client who can't stick to the plan you build together, and you can't understand why. ADHD gets treated as a footnote, one item on the list, an afterthought when it's often the thing shaping the entire clinical picture.
This training is for generalists so they can use ADHD as a lens instead of an add-on.
What to Expect
What the DSM-5 says and doesn't say.
A couple of neurological frameworks you can turn around and explain to a client or a parent in plain language. Not to sound smart, but because psychoeducation is an intervention.
What the research says therapy can and can't do, including what the evidence supports for medication, therapy, and the combo.
Language you can use this week with parents and adult clients to reduce shame and change how families respond to what they're seeing.

Your Clients Get Informed Consent. But Do You? Career Decisions for Clinicians Who Don't Want to Get Burned
Is This for You?
Maybe you're just starting out and the excitement of finishing your degree is being met with the overwhelming reality of figuring out where to begin. Maybe you've been in the field for a while and a job that once felt right no longer does. Or maybe you've been burned by an employer before and you're not walking into the next job without asking better questions first.
Whatever brought you here, the field does not hand you easy answers on jobs. There is no guidebook, no industry standard, and rarely a neutral party teaching you how to consider your best interests. The pressure is real and everyone seems to have their own opinion. It's your income, your clients, your career, and your sustainability in this work that all need to align.
What to Expect
A free, live, small group experience. Cameras on, conversation encouraged. This is not a webinar and it is not a lecture. It is a guided conversation for clinicians who have questions about the next steps in their career and how to think through them.
We will cover what to look for in a job, questions to ask, types of employment structures and how they could impact your income and autonomy, and considerations for how to be sustainable in your career.
Sessions are not recorded. What happens in the room stays in the room.
Who This Is For
Clinicians at any stage. New grads, newly licensed, or seasoned clinicians considering a shift. You don't even need to have a job offer in front of you to get something out of this. Sometimes the most useful thing is knowing what questions to ask before you need them.

A note on pricing
Pricing in mental health makes no sense, so I try to be straight about it. Many of my trainings and groups have a few price options, and reduced rates run across a lot of what I offer. Here's how I think about pricing.
